Gangotri is the birthplace of Ganga, the holiest of all the river’s in India. Legend’s say that mother Ganga descended to earth from the locks of Lord Shiva at Gomukh. The temple or Gangotri Dham was built by the Nepalese general Amar Singh Thapa and is located close to Bhagirath Shila and Pandava Gufa.
Kedarnath Dham
In the Vedas and Puranas, the word ‘Kedar’ is another name for” Lord Shiva” so, Kedarnath is said to be the land of Lord Shiva. Located almost 500 meters above Badrinath, the temple is an old stone edifice surrounded by Mandakini River. The view of this temple against its snowy backdrop is just an enriching experience, making Kedarnath Dham, one of the most important Dhams of the yatra.
Badrinath Dham
The Badrinath Dham is considered as the sacred ground of Lord Vishnu in his avatar of Nara Narayana. The temple was renovated by Adi Shankaracharya and serves as the pinnacle of Hindu pilgrimage sites of India.
